Do you have an instrument that is collecting dust? If so, then mark your calendars for the 2011 LINKS Collection Days: Saturday, March 12 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and Sunday, March 12 (12 p.m. – 5 p.m.) at the Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Pavilion!

Once a year, the CCM Alumni Board of Governors hosts a two day drive to collect instruments for needy students. These instruments go to young budding musicians in the Greater Cincinnati area. All of the donations are tax decuctible and Joseph Beth Booksellers will donate 20% of all booksales and 10% of all cafe sales back to LINKS during the collection days. Entertainment during the collection will be provided by local music students of all ages. Learn more about LINKS after the jump.

Many young students in our area have the talent and desire to learn to play a musical instrument. But something may be missing – the instrument! Through LINKS, you can donate your used instrument to a promising young musician who cannot afford to rent or purchase one of their own. LINKS gathers instruments from throughout the area and then places them with needy children in local elementary, middle and high school bands and orchestras, as well as with students in the College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department. Qualified students are identified by their school’s music teacher and a LINKS scholarship application is submitted in the student’s name.

Even if your instrument is not in perfect condition, please bring it in! Buddy Roger’s Music generously donates the time to carefully restore, tune and clean each instrument. So, help bring the joy of playing a musical instrument to a needy young student and receive a tax deduction for your gift.

You can drop off your instrument at any Buddy Roger’s Music store throughout the year. Call 513-729-1950 for the location nearest you. The Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Pavilion is also holding two LINKS collection days later on this month:

  • Saturday March 12th, 10am – 5pm
  • Sunday March 13th, 12pm – 5 pm
