Congratulations to CCM student Jennifer Williams for receiving a Fulbright grant to study in Germany next year!

A second-year artist diploma candidate in Opera Stage Direction, Williams directed CCM’s acclaimed staged production of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion last November. You can learn more about that performance here and see Williams discuss the production here.

CCM Professor of Composition Joel Hoffman was one of ten composers selected for a coveted, all-expenses-paid residency at Aaron Copland’s National Historic Landmark house in New York’s lower Hudson Valley. Copland House Artistic and Executive Director Michael Boriskin announced the winners of the 2011-12 Aaron Copland Awards, chosen from 90 applicants in 23 states. This year’s eminent jury consisted of composers Steven Stucky and Robert Beaser and violinist Curtis Macomber.

The CCM Wind Symphony welcomes special guest Michael Daugherty on April 29.

Two of CCM’s major ensembles pay tribute to the prolific and talented composers who were born in or immigrated to America in a two concert pairing. CCM Philharmonia celebrates American immigrant composers on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium, while CCM Wind Symphony features living American-born composers with special guest, Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Daugherty on Friday, April 29 at 8 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium.
