Due to Sunday night’s inclement weather, the Cincinnati Children’s Choirs’ Winter Concert has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16. in Corbett Auditorium. Directed by Robyn Lana, the CCC presents an evening of holiday repertoire representing traditions from around the world. Choirs will combine over 300 talented young voices to close the concert. Join us for CCM’s last concert event of 2010!

CCM’s Sandra Rivers Performs at Steinway Hall This Thursday

Professor of Collaborative Piano Sandra Rivers continues CCM’s 2010-11 Steinway Hall Series of Concerts this Thursday, Dec. 9. Her program will include Beethoven’s Sonata Op.54 in F Major, Chopin’s Ballade in A-flat Major; Rachmaninoff’s Etudes Tableaux Op. 39 Nos. 8 and 9 and Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Steinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street in New York City. The CCM Steinway Hall Series is open to the general public, but seating is limited. The next installment of this concert series will occur on Thursday, Jan. 13 and will feature Hitomi Koyama, a doctoral student of Elisabeth and Eugene Pridonoff.

Graham Johnson Visits CCM for Residency in January

Next month, CCM’s Department of Collaborative Piano will host an exceptional residency by renowned international author, lecturer, collaborative pianist and recording artist Graham Johnson. CCM will present Johnson in public master classes on Jan. 7 and 8, 2011. Johnson will be joined by CCM students, presenting vocal works of both Franz Schubert and Gabriel Fauré. He will also hold a public lecture on that Friday evening devoted to Schubert’s life and vocal works.

Union Baptist Church Presents CCM Alumna’s “Christmas Cantata”

In 1953, Loretta Catherine Cessor Manggrum became the first African American to receive a degree from CCM. On Sunday, Dec. 12, the Loretta Manggrum Chorale under the direction of Eric B. Oliver will honor her legacy with a presentation of A Christmas Cantata (one of Manggrum’s compositions) at Union Baptist Church in Cincinnati. This event begins at 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 and is open to the general public.

CCM ushers in the holidays this weekend with Feast of Carols, an annual concert featuring treasured sounds of the season as performed by the CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra; UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area high school choirs.
