The National Opera Association has announced the results of its annual Opera Production Competition and CCM’s 2010-11 Mainstage, Studio and Undergraduate Series of Operas have again received some of the competition’s highest honors.
CCM Opera students are preparing to tackle the uproarious comedy of Offenbach’s rarely performed operetta, The Island of Tulipatan, which runs March 4-6 in CCM’s Cohen Family Studio Theater. A part of CCM’s Studio Opera Series, the performance is conducted by Chaowen Ting and directed by Jennifer Williams. Admission to The Island of Tulipatan is free, but reservations are required. Tickets become available on Monday, Feb. 28 at noon—please contact the CCM Box Office at 513-556-4183 to reserve. Limit two tickets per order. Learn more about the production after the jump.
UC’s own News Record also reviewed the concert, which you can read here.
CCM’s Mainstage Opera Series resumes Feb. 10 -13, 2011 with Mozart’s timeless opera buffa The Marriage of Figaro, followed by the Studio Series production of Offenbach’s The Island of Tulipatan in March. Visit CCM’s website for more information on these upcoming productions.
CCM’s Opera Program rings in 2011 on a jovial note with the Mozart’s classic opera buffa The Marriage of Figaro and continues in the same vein with Offenbach’s lesser-performed opéra bouffe The Island of Tulipatan. Then, CCM students welcome everyone into their learning process by presenting scenes from operas, providing an eclectic and entertaining mix of tragedy, comedy and high-quality singing.
