CCM Preparatory student Tim Ovia will perform at the 53rd-annual Grammy Awards this February as a member of the Grammy Jazz Choir. Ovia, a Finneytown High School senior, was one of 8 students chosen for the choir out of hundreds of applicants.

CCM’s Mainstage Opera Series resumes Feb. 10 -13, 2011 with Mozart’s timeless opera buffa The Marriage of Figaro, followed by the Studio Series production of Offenbach’s The Island of Tulipatan in March. Visit CCM’s website for more information on these upcoming productions.

CCM students and staff are putting their own mark on Mozart’s timeless opera buffa The Marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) whether it is from the original 18th-century-inspired costume designs, the simple and elegant scenic designs or the polished presentation of Mozart’s comedic ensemble scenes. CCM begins its Winter Orchestra Series with a concert version of Puccini’s thrilling opera Turandot. The story of the beautiful but cold princess and the prince who wishes for her love is presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 28 in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium on the University of Cincinnati campus.
Join us for the return of “A Moveable Feast” on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Back by popular demand, the fundraiser features samplings of artistic and culinary delights while guests are transported around the world with a tour through CCM Village.
Guests may enjoy backstage tours and half hour samplings of student entertainment, including Chamber Music, Winds, Dance, Drama, Electronic Media, Big Band Jazz, Musical Theatre, Opera/Voice, Orchestra, Piano and Preparatory performances. By-the-bite cuisine accompanies the live entertainment. The evening’s program will begin in Corbett Auditorium with a Philharmonia and Chorale prelude and conclude with a Hot Jazz Finale at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $100 each for the general public and $75 each for “Friends of CCM” Members. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 513-556-5000.
Event proceeds raised by the Friends of CCM, a group of 600 volunteers and an active board, support student scholarships for CCM “stars of tomorrow.”
