CCM Alumnus Appointed to Composition Faculty at Capital Normal University in Beijing

Congratulations to CCM alumnus Gao Ping (DMA ’03), who was recently named professor of composition at the Capital Normal University in Beijing! A native of China, Gao also teaches as a guest professor at the China Conservatory of Music.

During his time at CCM, Gao studied piano and composition with James Tocco and Joel Hoffman, respectively.

In addition to his latest academic appointment, Gao also recently toured to Russia and Israel, where his new work “The Four Not-Alike” was premiered with the Forbidden City Chamber Orchestra of Beijing. This same program will be taken on tour to Spain next month.

Beginning this evening, CCM presents Our Town, Thornton Wilder’s timeless portrait of life in mythical Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Our Town follows George Gibbs and Emily Webb as they experience daily life, love and marriage, and death and eternity.

CCM presents Wilder’s wise and witty tale of life and the human experience tonight through April 24 in the Patricia Corbett Theater. Learn more after the jump.

Life is often celebrated through major milestones, such as a wedding or a birth, but the everyday routines can be just as meaningful – a message CCM Drama students are taking to heart as they present Thornton Wilder’s classic American drama Our Town on April 20 (preview)-24 in the Patricia Corbett Theater in CCM Village.

With winter finally loosening it’s icy grip on Cincinnati, we are happy to announce our full spring schedule of major events. CCM presents nearly 1,000 public events throughout the year and offers free admission to many of its performances. All events listed take place on the CCM campus and are free unless otherwise indicated.
