CCM alumna Tamara Wilson shares her thoughts in an interview with Washington National Opera. This past September Wilson sang the role of Amelia in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera with WNO and this week she is reprising the role with Teatre Principal de Maó.

CCM’s Director of Choral Studies to Serve as 2012 World Choir Games Artistic Director

Earl Rivers, director of Choral Studies at CCM, has been named Artistic Director for the Cincinnati Organizing Committee of the 7th World Choir Games (WCG|2012), which will be held in Cincinnati USA from July 4-14, 2012. Rivers is also professor of music and head of CCM’s Division of Ensembles and Conducting.

CCM Provides Splendid 400th for Monteverdi’s Landmark Vespers of 1610

On Sunday, Nov. 21, CCM held its first Subscriber Thank You Event of the year at Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati. The CCM Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra performed Montevderi’s Vespers of 1610 at this very special concert. Music in Cincinnati‘s Mary Ellyn Hutton provides an excellent review of the concert here.

Monteverdi’s “Vespers” Previewed by Enquirer

Today, Janelle Gelfand provides us with a preview of this Sunday’s concert commemorating the 400th anniversary of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610. You can read Janelle’s story here.

Sponsored by CCM’s Tangeman Sacred Music Center, the concert will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Fourth and Sycamore in downtown Cincinnati at 5 p.m on Nov. 21. Two CCM Faculty Members Collaborate on New Ballet

CCM Professors Miguel Roig-Francolí (Composition and Theory) and Jiang Qi (Dance) are collaborating on a new work set to premiere on December 10 in New York City. Jiang has choreographed a new ballet to Roig-Francolí’s Five Pieces for Orchestra, a work written in 1980. The new ballet, titled Wu/Xing-Five Elements, will be performed by Dance China NY, of which Jiang is Artistic Director.

CCM Students and Faculty Present “Broadway Holidays” at The Carnegie

On Thursday, Dec. 2, The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center in Covington, Kentucky welcomes CCM Musical Theatre students Katie Johannigman and Joe Moeller  to the stage as part of an evening of musical theatre mirth. The third performance of the 2010-11 Carnegie in Concert series, “Broadway Holidays” is a fun-filled, cabaret-style program directed and choreographed by Patti James with musical direction by Steve Goers.

Metropolitan Opera Production Directed By CCM Faculty Member

CCM Associate Professor of Opera Robin Guarino directs the Metropolitan Opera’s latest revival of Così fan tutte, which opened in New York City on November 9. This season, Mozart’s beloved opera buffa will be presented using the Lesley Koenig production, which Guarino has directed since 2001. Così fan tutte will run through December 2 in New York City.
