CCM Video: Mainstage Season-Opener Features Collaboration with Artist Amy Shackleton

CCM’s Mainstage Series opens next month with William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The innovative new production will feature a collaboration with Toronto-based artist Amy Shackleton (in fact, this is Shackleton’s first-ever theatrical collaboration)!

You can view her unique process in the time-lapse video above. Shackleton is working with CCM’s Department of Theatre Design & Production to develop an all new time-lapse video for the show!

Preview: The Scenic Design of Evita

Next month, CCM’s Corbett Auditorium will transform into mid-century Latin America for the Mainstage Production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita. Here’s a sneak peek at what that transformation will look like, courtesy of Senior Resident Scenic Designer Thomas Umfrid. You can view more of Umfrid’s work here.

With lighting by Samantha Spiro, sound design by Richard J. Koharik and Chuck Hatcher, costumes by Reba Senske, wig and make-up design by Kelly Yurko, choreography by Patti James, musical direction by Jesse Kissel and direction by Aubrey Berg, Evita will be the must-see musical this fall. CCM is pleased to announce details for the 2010-11 Mainstage Series of drama, musical theatre and opera productions.

The 2010-2011 Mainstage Season will sweep you away – from Argentina to small town America, from riotous farce to the deepest of human emotions and across a landscape of truly great works in musical theatre, drama and opera. With sensational Tony Award-winning musical theatre hits, comedy and pathos from the American master playwright Thornton Wilder and opera in all of its glory, each title will be brought to life by the brightest and freshest young talent in Cincinnati. Here is a first look at what next season has to offer:

Based on the classic novel by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men tells the story of George and Lennie, two displaced farm hands during the Great Depression. Chasing the American dream to someday own their own stake of land, the pair travels across the California countryside in search of work. When their journey leads them into trouble, one friend must make a tragic choice to save the other. Sung in English with supertitles. Opening night will feature special pre- and post-performance talks by Maestro Carlisle Floyd.
