CCM Professor of Ethnomusicology Presents At April 10 ‘Life of the Mind’ Lecture

UC’s popular “Life of the Mind” lecture series resumes next month as UC faculty members present varying perspectives on the theme of “identity.”

CCM Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology Stefan Fiol will join UC President Gregory H. Williams and Associate Professor of Political Science Laura Dudley Jenkins for this discussion on Tuesday, April 10 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the Russell C. “Life of the Mind” is free and open to the public and attracts a broad audience including UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as people from the community.

CCM Professor Discusses War and the Music of Politics as Part of UC Lecture Series

The University of Cincinnati’s popular “Life of the Mind” lecture series will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with a session scheduled for 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center. Free and open to the UC community and the general public, “Life of Mind” features interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty around a one-word theme followed by audience Q&A. The fall “Life of the Mind” theme is “War.”

During this month’s session, CCM Professor of Composition Joel Hoffman will discuss “War and the Music of Politics,” along with fellow thought provocateurs Stanley J. Corkin (Professor of English and Comparative Literature) and Bert Lockwood (College of Law)

E-Media Professor to Serve as “Thought Provocateur” in New Speaker Series

CCM’s Assistant Professor of Electronic Media Peter DePietro will serve as one of the “thought provocateurs” in a new speaker series highlighting UC’s innovative thinkers called Life of the Mind. DePietro will join two other speakers on Tuesday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center for a discussion centered on the theme of technology.
