Cincinnati Enquirer Previews CCM’s Kurt Weill Festival

This weekend, the Cincinnati Enquirer‘s Jackie Demaline provided an early look at CCM’s yearlong Kurt Weill Festival. You can read her preview here.

The festival resumes next month with a Mainstage production of Kurt Weill, Langston Hughes and Elmer Rice’s great American opera Street Scene, conducted by Mark Gibson with stage direction by Steven Goldstein. Street Scene runs Nov. 15 – 18 in UC’s Patricia Corbett Theater.

In her review of Chess for the Cincinnati Enquirer, Jackie Demaline writes, “It’s easy to be swept up in the spectacle conjured by director Aubrey Berg – great singing, great dancing, jaw-dropping costuming, superb orchestral support (led by Stephen Goers), sharp techno scenic design (by Mark Halpin and Alan Hanson).”

Jackie Demaline takes a closer look at CCM’s unique spin on William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in today’s edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer. A Midsummer Night’s Dream runs through this Sunday, Oct. 7, in Patricia Corbett Theater.

CCM Announces 2012-13 Mainstage Series of Opera, Musical Theatre and Drama

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is pleased to announce details for the 2012-13 CCM Mainstage Series of opera, musical theatre and drama productions.

This year’s unforgettable Mainstage Series features breathtaking opera from modern to classic, masterful musicals from Kurt Weill and the composers of Mamma Mia and wondrous comedy and drama from Shakespeare and William Saroyan. The series features six fully staged works, with performances taking place Oct. 3, 2012 through April 7, 2013.

Three CCM Students Named As League of Cincinnati Theatres’ 2012 Rising Stars

The League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) has announced the five recipients of its 2012 Rising Star Awards and three CCM students will be recognized at this year’s LCT Theatre Gala on May 21st! LCT’s 2012 Rising Stars include CCM Musical Theatre seniors John Riddle and Katie Johannigman and CCM Drama senior Kristopher Dean. Congratulations all of this year’s award recipients!

With a cast of over 30 actors, an on-stage chorus featuring 16 singers from Cincinnati Children’s Choir, a fight on a slave ship and a drowning in the Thames, Coram Boy kicks off CCM’s 2011-12 Mainstage Series in epic fashion.
