Take the entrancing story of a gypsy woman’s raw seductive power and the men that want her, add the fervor of the hallowed music of Georges Bizet and mix in a bit of modern storytelling. The result is a 90-minute, action- and passion-packed retelling of the beloved opera Carmen, adapted by the daringly innovative stage director Peter Brook.

Sung in French with English surtitles, experience the frenzy of Carmen in an entirely new way. Performed as part of CCM’s acclaimed Studio Opera Series, The Tragedy of Carmen runs March 2-4 in the Cohen Family Studio Theater in CCM Village on the University of Cincinnati campus. Isaac Selya conducts with stage direction by Steven Goldstein.
