CCM Video: CCM Philharmonia Performs Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7

CCM’s month-long Beethoven Festival resumes this evening with a performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra at 8 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium.

Above, you can view an excerpt of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92 performed at the festival opening concert on Friday, Sept. 14.

Tonight’s concert will open with Richard Strauss’ Don Juan, Op. 20 and will also include a double-bill of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major and the famous and recognizable Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67. Jing Huan and Mark Gibson conduct.

CCM Announces Fall 2012 Calendar of Major Events

CCM is delighted to announce its fall schedule of performances. The largest single source of performing arts events in the state of Ohio, CCM presents more than 100 public performances this fall, ranging from faculty and guest artist concerts to fully supported opera, drama and musical theatre productions.

This fall’s schedule includes a Beethoven Festival (Sept. 14 – Oct. 12), a Kurt Weill Festival (Oct. 19 – March 10) and a Cage Centennial Celebration (Nov. 5 – Nov. 29). CCM also collaborates with Cincinnati Opera on public workshop performances of two new American operas (Oct. 27 – 28 and Dec. 4 – 5) and presents a pair of concerts in conjunction with the Constella Festival of Music and Fine Arts (Oct. 10 and Oct. 28).

Re-Imagined ‘Don Giovanni’ Opens CCM’s Mainstage Opera Series

CCM opens its Mainstage opera series with one of the most performed and revered operas in the entire repertoire, Mozart’s Don Giovanni. CCM Professor of Opera and Distinguished Artist in Residence Nicholas Muni directs the talented students of CCM in this timeless tale of a philandering man, his many conquests and his ultimate condemnation. Don Giovanni runs February 9-12 in CCM’s Patricia Corbett Theater on the University of Cincinnati campus.
