More than 300 voices will fill the stage of Corbett Auditorium with favorite holiday songs during CCM’s annual Feast of Carols on December 3 and 4. The festivities will include treasured sounds of the season performed by CCM’s Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra, UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area guest choirs. Performances will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium on the University of Cincinnati campus.
Critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Steve Lippia joins CCM’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band for a tribute concert to the legendary Frank Sinatra on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium.
Aptly titled “Simply Sinatra,” this concert features the romance of an evening filled with the hits of “Old Blue Eyes,” including “Come Fly With Me,” “New York, New York” and “My Way.” Renowned for his charisma and stage presence, crooner Steve Lippia has performed around the country with extended engagements in the hotspots of Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Hear the hits of the “Chairman of the Board” brought to life as Lippia joins the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Scott Belck and Dominic Marino, on stage in Corbett Auditorium for one night only.
CCM is delighted to announce its fall schedule of major performances. Beginning Wednesday, September 28 CCM will present over 50 events, ranging from faculty and guest artist concerts to fully supported opera and musical theatre productions.
Whether it’s a swinging tribute to Frank Sinatra, a festival showcasing the talents of two Russian powerhouse composers, the regional premiere of a drama co-produced with The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, a world premiere produced in partnership with Cincinnati Opera, a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved Oklahoma! or a holiday-themed choral extravaganza, CCM’s fall schedule of performing arts events offers dozens of opportunities to be mesmerized and delighted.
CCM’s Corbett Auditorium will be filled with the lively rhythms and beats of CCM’s Steel Drum Band during its annual performance on Saturday, May 21 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature musical styles ranging from reggae to soca, along with a student arrangement of Grammy Award-winning artist Bill Withers’ R&B hit “Lovely Day.”
CCM will support disaster relief efforts in Japan by donating proceeds from the sixth annual Pianopalooza concert to the cause. This year’s event takes place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 in Corbett Auditorium and celebrates the sounds of the piano with performances by CCM student pianists from Japan along with CCM faculty.
Critically acclaimed pianist and composer Donald Brown joins the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band for their “Jazz Composers’ Concert” on Sunday, March 13 at 4 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium in CCM Village. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for non-UC students and free for UC students.
Lyrical wind music, Russian folk sounds and a rarely performed cantata highlight the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM)’s “Stravinsky Festival,” presented by the CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale, Concert Orchestra and Chamber Players on Sunday, March 6 at 4 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for non-UC students and free for UC students. Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Mark Gibson and Rodney Winther conduct.
Starting this month, CCM will offer special weekday matinee performances by its acclaimed musical ensembles. These concerts will take place at 2 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium. Learn more about these unique events after the jump.
A group of 20 faculty members and students from China’s Shandong University at Weihai will visit CCM on Jan. 28, 2011, concluding in a celebration of the Chinese New Year at Corbett Auditorium in CCM Village at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. The visit was organized by the Greater Cincinnati Chinese Music Society, which is also a partner with CCM in the concert presentation of Turandot on the Chinese New Year.
Due to Sunday night’s inclement weather, the Cincinnati Children’s Choirs’ Winter Concert has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16. in Corbett Auditorium. Directed by Robyn Lana, the CCC presents an evening of holiday repertoire representing traditions from around the world. Choirs will combine over 300 talented young voices to close the concert.
