CCM’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band explore the Neophonic sounds of legendary and sometimes controversial jazz bandleader Stan Kenton in a tribute concert to the biggest-sounding big band of all time at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, in Corbett Auditorium.

Faculty artist and Kenton alumnus John Von Ohlen joins CCM’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band for this exciting tribute concert. Scott Belck and Dominic Marino conduct.

CCM welcomes guest artist Dennis Mackrel on Nov. 13.

On Sunday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band welcome guest artist Dennis Mackrel, drummer and band leader of the world famous Count Basie Orchestra for “Atomic Basie!”

This fun-filled evening features the hits of the Count Basie library and other swing era favorites that are sure to get the joint jumping, including “April in Paris,” “Corner Pocket,” Dennis Mackrel originals and more. CCM’s Scott Belck and Dominic Marino conduct.

CCM’s Concert Orchestra, Chamber Players and Faculty Jazztet will present special concerts bookending the University of Cincinnati’s 2011 Homecoming weekend later on this month. The concerts are free and open to the public, and UC fans and alumni are invited to come to campus and experience CCM’s world-class student and faculty artists in action.

Critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Steve Lippia joins CCM’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band for a tribute concert to the legendary Frank Sinatra on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium.

Aptly titled “Simply Sinatra,” this concert features the romance of an evening filled with the hits of “Old Blue Eyes,” including “Come Fly With Me,” “New York, New York” and “My Way.” Renowned for his charisma and stage presence, crooner Steve Lippia has performed around the country with extended engagements in the hotspots of Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Hear the hits of the “Chairman of the Board” brought to life as Lippia joins the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Scott Belck and Dominic Marino, on stage in Corbett Auditorium for one night only.

Grammy-Nominated Composer joins CCM Jazz Ensembles for “Jazz Composers’ Concert”

Critically acclaimed pianist and composer Donald Brown joins the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band for their “Jazz Composers’ Concert” on Sunday, March 13 at 4 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium in CCM Village. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for non-UC students and free for UC students.
