CCM Student Named First Recipient of the Merola Opera Program’s Zheng Cao Opera Fund Award
Congratulations to CCM’s Yi Li, tenor, for being named the inaugural recipient of the Merola Opera Program‘s Zheng Cao Opera Fund award!
Each summer, this fund will sponsor one incoming Merola artist: either an Asian/Pacific artist or a mezzo-soprano. In addition to covering the artist’s training and housing costs, the Zheng Cao Fund will provide the additional funding needed to cover visa and travel costs associated with bringing an Asian/Pacific artist to San Francisco.

This Sunday at 9 p.m., WGUC 90.9 FM presents a special Chinese New Year-themed installment of The McGraw-Hill Companies Young Artists Showcase, featuring a performance by tenor Yi Li, a first-year Artist Diploma candidate at CCM.
Enjoy An Evening of Classical Guitar Ensemble Music This Tuesday
Tomorrow night at 8 p.m., the undergraduate Classical Guitar Ensemble presents its spring concert in Patricia Corbett Theater. The program includes solos, duos, trios, quartets and full company pieces from the vast repertoire of classical guitar ensemble music, which dates back to the medieval times. This concert is free and open to the general public.
CCM Doctoral Candidate Albert Mühlböck Performs at Steinway Hall on April 21
Doctoral candidate in piano performance Albert Mühlböck continues CCM’s 2010-11 Steinway Hall Series of Concerts on Thursday, April 21. His program will include Mozart’s Fantasy in C Minor K. 475 and Liszt’s Réminiscences de Don Juan de Mozart, among others. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Steinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street in New York City. The CCM Steinway Hall Series is open to the general public, but seating is limited. CCM’s Sandra Rivers Performs at Steinway Hall This Thursday
Professor of Collaborative Piano Sandra Rivers continues CCM’s 2010-11 Steinway Hall Series of Concerts this Thursday, Dec. 9. Her program will include Beethoven’s Sonata Op.54 in F Major, Chopin’s Ballade in A-flat Major; Rachmaninoff’s Etudes Tableaux Op. 39 Nos. 8 and 9 and Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Steinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street in New York City. The CCM Steinway Hall Series is open to the general public, but seating is limited. The next installment of this concert series will occur on Thursday, Jan. 13 and will feature Hitomi Koyama, a doctoral student of Elisabeth and Eugene Pridonoff.
