‘Turandot’ Kicks Off CCM Orchestras’ Exciting Winter Series of Concerts

CCM’s Orchestral Studies Program begins the New Year in an exciting collaboration with Central Opera, Beijing, the Greater Cincinnati Chinese Music Society, CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Cincinnati Children’s Choir in a momentous concert performance of Puccini’s beloved Turandot. The celebration continues with some of the greatest composers of the orchestral repertoire being featured, including a “Stravinsky Festival” with the CCM Chamber Choir and Chorale and a Gustav Mahler commemoration concert. CCM’s Feast of Carols Features Beloved Sounds of the Season Dec. 4 & 5

CCM ushers in the holidays this weekend with Feast of Carols, an annual concert featuring treasured sounds of the season as performed by the CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra; UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area high school choirs.

CCM Provides Splendid 400th for Monteverdi’s Landmark Vespers of 1610

On Sunday, Nov. 21, CCM held its first Subscriber Thank You Event of the year at Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati. The CCM Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra performed Montevderi’s Vespers of 1610 at this very special concert. Music in Cincinnati‘s Mary Ellyn Hutton provides an excellent review of the concert here.

Here They Come A-Caroling: CCM Choirs Celebrate Holidays with Annual Feast of Carols

More than 300 choir voices will fill the halls of Corbett Auditorium with favorite holiday songs during CCM’s annual Feast of Carols on December 4 and 5. The festivities will include treasured sounds of the season performed by CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra; UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area high school choirs. Performances will take place on Saturday, December 4 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 5 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium at the University of Cincinnati.

CCM Commemorates the 400th Anniversary of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610

On Sunday, Nov. 21, CCM’s Choral and Orchestral Departments present a concert commemorating the 400th Anniversary of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610. The core large-scale masterwork in the international repertory of the Early Music movement, Monteverdi’s masterpiece will be performed by the CCM Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra. This lavish presentation will be embellished with guest period instrument artists playing cornettos, theorbo, gamba and Baroque harp. Earl Rivers conducts. Sponsored by CCM’s Tangeman Sacred Music Center, the concert will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Fourth and Sycamore in downtown Cincinnati at 5 p.m on Nov. 21. CCM Choral Honors Program Founder in Very Special Concert

On Sunday, Oct. 24, CCM’s Choral Studies Program presents a very special concert event. “Elmer Thomas’ 80th Birthday Concert” celebrates CCM Professor Emeritus and Choral Studies-founder Elmer Thomas. Thomas was a member of CCM’s faculty from 1966-1995, elevating the Choral Studies Program to international recognition during that time. His birthday concert will feature the CCM Chamber Choir and Chorale, UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and Vocal Arts Ensemble performing a variety of choral classics. Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Brandon Dean, Olga Artemova, Robyn Lana and Stephanie Nash conduct.
