CCM Alumnus Brandon Dean Receives Gustavus Adolphus College’s Award for Teaching Excellence

CCM alumnus Brandon Dean (DMA, 2011) has received Gustavus Adolphus College’s 2014 Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence. The award is nominated and selected by students and has been presented annually since 1990. Congratulations!

Dean joined the Gustavus faculty in 2011, after completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting at CCM. At CCM, he also served as the conductor of the UC Women’s Chorus from 2008-2011.

An Assistant Professor of Music ad Gustavus, he conducts the Choir of Christ Chapel, Lucia Singers and St. Ansgar’s Chorus, and teaches courses in music theory and music history.

CCM presents nearly 1,000 public events throughout the year and offers free admission to many of its performances. All events listed take place on the CCM campus and are free unless otherwise indicated. CCM ushers in the holidays this weekend with Feast of Carols, an annual concert featuring treasured sounds of the season as performed by the CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra; UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area high school choirs.

Here They Come A-Caroling: CCM Choirs Celebrate Holidays with Annual Feast of Carols

More than 300 choir voices will fill the halls of Corbett Auditorium with favorite holiday songs during CCM’s annual Feast of Carols on December 4 and 5. The festivities will include treasured sounds of the season performed by CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra; UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area high school choirs. Performances will take place on Saturday, December 4 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 5 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Corbett Auditorium at the University of Cincinnati.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, CCM’s Choral Studies Program presents a very special concert event. “Elmer Thomas’ 80th Birthday Concert” celebrates CCM Professor Emeritus and Choral Studies-founder Elmer Thomas. Thomas was a member of CCM’s faculty from 1966-1995, elevating the Choral Studies Program to international recognition during that time. His birthday concert will feature the CCM Chamber Choir and Chorale, UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and Vocal Arts Ensemble performing a variety of choral classics. Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Brandon Dean, Olga Artemova, Robyn Lana and Stephanie Nash conduct.
