CCM Announces 2011-12 Studio Series of Opera, Drama and Musical Theatre

CCM is pleased to announce details for the 2011-12 CCM Studio Series of opera, musical theatre and drama. This year’s Studio Series features nine productions in CCM’s intimate and versatile “black box” space, the Cohen Family Studio Theater, along with a regional premiere co-produced with The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, a world premiere produced in partnership with Cincinnati Opera and a festival of new dramatic works that will utilize spaces throughout CCM Village.

The Studio Series runs from Oct. 20, 2011 through May 27, 2012. Studio Series productions are held in CCM’s Cohen Family Studio Theater unless otherwise indicated. All Studio Series events held in the Cohen Family Studio Theater are free and open to the general public, although reservations are required. Reservations may be made the week of each show only by contacting the CCM Box Office by phone at 513-556-4183. For additional information, visit ccm.uc.edu.

CCM Announces Full Schedule of 2011-12 Mainstage Events

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s schedule of major performances for 2011-12 is now available! This year’s season includes over 40 major events, ranging from fully staged operas and musicals to Afro-Cuban jazz concerts and holiday-themed choral extravaganzas.

CCM’s Eric Huffman and Katie Johannigman Recognized with Acclaim Award Nominations for ‘Out of This World’

Congratulations to our own Eric Huffman and Katie Johannigman for earning Acclaim Award nominations for their work on Out of This World, the 2011 offering of CCM’s Musicals Redux series, which resurrects forgotten theatre gems. The show also earned an overall recommendation from Acclaim Award panelists.

CCM’s Annual Musicals Redux Series Presents “Out of This World”

This year’s annual Musicals Redux series – which carries out CCM Musical Theatre’s mission to resurrect gems from the storehouse of forgotten American musical theatre – will present a stylish comic gem from the master, Cole Porter. On May 12-14, CCM will present Out of This World in the Cohen Family Studio Theater. Admission is free, but reservations are required. CCM’s Kate Garber, Mia Gentile and Adam Moser Named Acclaim Awards Rising Stars

Congratulations to our own Kate Garber, Mia Gentile and Adam Moser for being recognized as three of this year’s Acclaim Awards Rising Stars!

The Acclaim Awards, an initiative of Enquirer Media, has named six 2011 Rising Stars, artists and technicians under the age of 25 who have made extraordinary contributions to the local theatre scene. Each Rising Star will receive a $1,000 grant towards future endeavors, and all will be applauded at the annual Acclaim Awards celebration at 7 p.m. on May 23 at The Carnegie, 1028 Scott Blvd., Covington. CCM Musical Theatre Grad’s Music Featured in NEO7 Concert

Recent Musical Theatre graduate Andre Catrini (BFA, ‘11) has been selected to participate in the NEO7 concert held by the York Theatre Company in New York City.

NEO, (an acronym for “New, Emerging, Outstanding”) celebrates songwriters primed to pen the next generation of Broadway musicals. The benefit concert occurs on May 16 at the Yorke Theatre Company’s home in Saint Peter’s Theatre. Andre’s song “Shelter” will be performed by Broadway performer Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid, Guys & Dolls, 30 Rock.) “Shelter” is from Andre’s song cycle Whisper, Love which debuted at CCM in the Winter of 2010.

CCM Announces 2011-12 Mainstage Series

Today, we are pleased to announce details for the 2011-12 CCM Mainstage Series of drama, musical theatre and opera productions. This year’s unforgettable Mainstage Series features a moving drama by Helen Edmundson and a ravishing comedy by Tom Stoppard, bold and enchanting musical theatre by Rodgers & Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim and sublime operas by Mozart and Stravinsky. The series features six fully-staged works, with performances taking place Oct. 27, 2011 through May 13, 2012. Subscriptions are on sale now, single tickets go on sale later this summer.

CCM’s Rising Musical Theatre Stars Showcase Talents for Local Audiences

Cincinnati audiences will get a sneak peak of an original showcase created by the CCM Musical Theatre 2011 graduating class during the annual Musical Theatre Showcase, which runs from March 31 (Friends of CCM benefit performance)-April 2 in the Patricia Corbett Theater. The March 31 Friends of CCM benefit starts at 7 p.m. and features a post-performance celebration and dinner by the bite. The April 1-2 performances take place at 8 p.m. and are free, but reservations are required. Learn more after the jump.
