On Tuesday, April 26th the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative (CPI New Voices) presents a new play based on the life of Henry Meyer, the late Holocaust survivor, distinguished professor of violin and founding member of the world-renowned LaSalle Quartet that for decades found its home here at CCM.
A tradition of excellence dating back to 1867 was recognized tonight in special ceremonies led by Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut. In an evening ceremony in the lobby of UC’s Patricia Corbett Theater, Chancellor Fingerhut, UC President Gregory H. Williams, CCM Interim Dean Frank Weinstock and distinguished alumna Pamela Myers (BFA, ‘69) as well as students, patrons, staff and faculty, gathered to recognize the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) as an Ohio Center of Excellence in Music and Theatre Arts. Ceremonies preceded this evening’s sold-out performance of Jonathan Larson’s Rent.
March will be filled with a series of phenomenal, talent-filled events thanks to CCM Prep. From dazzling musicals to chamber music recitals, the students of CCM’s Preparatory Department present something for everyone this month!
Do you have an instrument that is collecting dust? If so, then mark your calendars for the 2011 LINKS Collection Days: Saturday, March 12 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and Sunday, March 12 (12 p.m. – 5 p.m.) at the Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Pavilion!
Once a year, the CCM Alumni Board of Governors hosts a two day drive to collect instruments for needy students. These instruments go to young budding musicians in the Greater Cincinnati area. All of the donations are tax decuctible and Joseph Beth Booksellers will donate 20% of all booksales and 10% of all cafe sales back to LINKS during the collection days. Entertainment during the collection will be provided by local music students of all ages. Learn more about LINKS after the jump.
This Thursday, the Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut, University of Cincinnati President Gregory Williams and other community leaders will gather at CCM Village for a very special ceremony, acknowledging CCM’s tradition of excellence.

Come see the spectacular work of CCM’s talented stage lighting students as they highlight their portfolios, websites and designs during the Design and Technology Portfolio Showcase. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 2 from 9:14-11:44 a.m. in the Corbett Center for the Performing Arts, Room 2460 (Design Lab). The event is open to the general public.
Our congratulations to Weston G. Wetzel, a second-year graduate student at CCM, who has earned his first Acclaim Award nomination. Wetzel has been singled out for his lighting design of CCM’s production of the groundbreaking rock musical Rent.
