Things may be quiet at CCM Village in Cincinnati this summer, but the CCM Spoleto Opera and Classical Music Festival is just getting started. CCM Spoleto gave its inaugural performance at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti to an enthusiastic crowd of locals and students Saturday, July 24. Led by director Annunziata Tomaro, the concert began with Barber’s impressive Overture to “The School for Scandal”. Guest pianist and CCM faculty member James Tocco closed out the first half with Beethoven’s perennial favorite, Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major “Emperor”. The second half of the evening featured Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony in e Minor—showcasing the artistry of the festival’s talented instrumentalists.
