Earlier this month, Albany Records released CCM alumnus Evan Mack’s (DMA, 2008) new American opera Angel of the Amazon for worldwide distribution.

Recorded live at premiere performances held on May 6 – 22, 2011 in New York City after preview performances in Cincinnati, Angel of the Amazon depicts Sister Dorothy Stang’s lifetime of work with the Brazilian peasant farmers in the rainforest.

LISTEN: CCM’s ‘Coram Boy’ Featured on Around Cincinnati

Director Richard E. Hess discussed CCM’s Mainstage Series-opening title Coram Boy with Jim Stump on this past Sunday’s installment of WVXU’s Around Cincinnati. You can listen to the full discussion here.

CCM Fall 2011 Calendar of Major Events – Updates

Please note the following updates to CCM’s schedule of major events for the fall:

  • The Sept. 28 Faculty Artist Concert featuring Ixi Chen, Theodore Nelson and Marcus Kuchle will take place in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall. The event was previously scheduled for the Cohen Family Studio Theater.
  • The Pridonoff Duo’s 30th Anniversary Concert (scheduled for Oct. 3) and the Elisabeth Pridonoff, Timothy Lees and Catherine Carroll Prokofiev and Shostakovich Festival concert (scheduled for Oct. 11) have both been cancelled due to illness. Stay tuned for rescheduled dates.
  • Tickets for the Dec. 9 & 10 Preparatory Dance Concert are $10 general admission, $8 students. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

CCM Jazz Ensemble – Mean to Me

Continuing our new series of CCM Audio posts, we present the CCM Jazz Ensemble performing Mean to Me.

The CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band open their season this Sunday, Oct. 17, with “Big Band Celebration,” a concert featuring the landmark works of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and more. Tickets are still available at the CCM Box Office!

Married CCM Educators to Share the Spotlight at Carnegie Hall

Two CCM educators will share the stage in a unique way at Carnegie Hall on October 24, when violinist Jennifer Roig-Francolí will perform the world premiere of a new piece composed by her husband, CCM Professor of Music Theory and Composition Miguel Roig-Francolí. Mrs. Roig-Francolí, a violinist and CCM Preparatory Department faculty member, will perform “Songs of the Infinite” with pianist Adam Kent at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York on October 24 at 7 p.m.
