CCM’s Spring 2018 Winds Series presents twelve free and ticketed concerts between January 31 and April 18, featuring new works by the college’s up-and-coming composers and classic pieces by renowned artists.
The Wind Orchestra’s first ticketed performance of the semester, Musical Brilliance, takes place at 8 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 1 in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium. Created to inspire and ignite audiences’ imaginations, the program features Joseph Schwantner’s Luminosity, James Mobberley’s Songs of Love, Larry Clark’s Samurai and Jeff Tyzik’s Images.
CCM’s Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble join forces to present An Evening of Classics at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15 in Corbett Auditorium, featuring works by J.S. Bach, Gioachino Rossini, Percy Grainger, Henry Fillmore and more!
At 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2, CCM’s Wind Orchestra celebrates the legacy of Leonard Bernstein with Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and Three Dance Episodes from On the Town. The program also includes Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian and Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss.
The concert series comes to a close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, as the CCM Wind Orchestra transports audiences to Other Worlds. The program features music about other levels of existence including Eric Whitacre’s Ghost Train, Óscar Navarro’s Gods of Olympus and more!
