CCM’s Spring 2018 Percussion Series presents two diverse performances, featuring a musical trip to the Caribbean and a tribute concert to composer Herbert Brün in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
CCM kicks off its Spring 2018 Percussion Series at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, as the CCM Steel Drum Band presents its annual concert A Trip to Trinidad and Back.
The concert offers an evening of pop, folk and reggae compositions designed to warm up the coldest winter nights. Program highlights include Steel Drum versions of Aerosmith’s Dream On and Karlsson and Winnberg’s Toxic. Guest Artists in CinciSon, a Latin salsa band composed primarily of CCM students, join the Steel Drum Band for this Saturday’s concert. Full program details are below.
The CCM Percussion Ensemble concludes the performance series on Tuesday, April 3, with a free concert featuring works by Steve Reich, John Cage, Laura Schwendinger and more. The program also features a musical tribute to composer Herbert Brün, celebrating the centennial of his birth.
