CCM is proud to present a trio of diverse percussion concerts this semester featuring a musical trip to the Caribbean, faculty artists and musical tributes to American composer Lou Harrison to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth.
CCM’s Spring Percussion Series kicks off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, as the CCM Steel Drum Band presents its annual concert A Trip to Trinidad and Back. The concert offers an evening of traditional music from Trinidad, along with pop, folk and reggae compositions designed to warm up the coldest winter nights.
Faculty artists in Percussion Group Cincinnati present a free Lou Harrison Centennial Concert on Feb. 24, featuring music spanning the composer’s entire career.
The series concludes on April 10 with a free concert featuring chamber music from the last several decades, including works by composers Steve Reich and Makoto Shinohara. The program also features a tribute to Lou Harrison on the centennial of his birth.
