UC College-Conservatory of Music’s acclaimed orchestral ensembles will give ten concerts between January 27 and April 21, several of which are free and all of which are open to the public. Tickets are on sale now for all performances requiring paid admission.

The series begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 with the CCM Philharmonia, led by Director of Orchestra Studies Mark Gibson. Faculty artists Catharine Carroll Lees, viola, and Alan Rafferty, cello, will join students in concert for Richard Strauss’ Don Quixote.  The concert concludes with Ludwig Van Beethoven’s infamous Symphony No. 3, lauded as a turning point in musical history.

CCM’s Concert Orchestra and Chorale close the concert series on April 21 with White Night, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Aik Khai Pung. The program features music from three Russian composers: Alexander Borodin, Sergei Prokofiev and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
