CCM’s Wind Orchestra presents exciting new works by contemporary Chinese and Japanese composers at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, in UC’s Corbett Auditorium.
Dubbed “Asia Rising,” this concert celebrates the dynamic new sounds for winds and percussion coming from Japan and China. Led by Director of Wind Studies Glenn D. Price, the Wind Orchestra will explore the music of composers Youichi Kamioka, Chen Yi, Masanori Taruya and Yasuhide Ito. The colors of Asia will mix with the “best of the West” to create a delectable Asian fusion for the senses during this special concert.Tickets are on sale now.
The program for “Asia Rising” is scheduled to include Kamioka’s In Autumn Skies, Chen Yi’s Dragon Rhyme, Taruya’s The Archangel Gabriel who Leaves a House of Tobias and Ito’s Gloriosa.
