CCM E-Media had a surprise guest yesterday afternoon in the form of the one and only Jerry Springer. Springer was visiting UC’s campus and, drawn by Walter E. Bartlett’s name on the Walter and Marilyn Bartlett Television Production Center, decided to take a tour of our Electronic Media facilities.
Bartlett, who died in 2008, ended his long television career as CEO of Multimedia, Inc. He generously donated a million dollars to help build the new E-Media facility, which opened in 1999. Springer remarked that Bartlett had given him his first job at WLWT Channel 5.
Springer has always been generous about sharing his time and experience with UC students and others in the community. He maintains a home in Cincinnati where he had a political career in the 1970s and was a popular news anchor for WLWT throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s. Springer then took his act to Chicago, where his notorious talk show brought him fame and fortune.
