Next month, CCM’s Corbett Auditorium will transform into mid-century Latin America for the Mainstage Production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita. Here’s a sneak peek at what that transformation will look like, courtesy of Senior Resident Scenic Designer Thomas Umfrid. You can view more of Umfrid’s work here.
With lighting by Samantha Spiro, sound design by Richard J. Koharik and Chuck Hatcher, costumes by Reba Senske, wig and make-up design by Kelly Yurko, choreography by Patti James, musical direction by Jesse Kissel and direction by Aubrey Berg, Evita will be the must-see musical this fall. See full production details after the jump.
Running November 17-21, this dazzling “rock-umentary” follows the life of Eva Peron, the girl form a mundane background who became the most powerful woman in Latin America. Evita’s meteoric rise from her nightclub roots to a position of political prominence is told through a provocative mix of song, dance and a pulsating rock score that reflects the scheming, beguiling and compelling personality of a woman considered a sinner by some, a saint by others. Dead at the age of 33, Eva’s story is immortalized in this powerful, Tony Award-winning musical.
Tickets to Evita are $22 (Nov. 17 preview only), $27-$29, $17-$19 students, available by calling 513-556-4183 or on our website.
