Three CCM Students Named As League of Cincinnati Theatres’ 2012 Rising Stars

The League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) has announced the five recipients of its 2012 Rising Star Awards and three CCM students will be recognized at this year’s LCT Theatre Gala on May 21st! LCT’s 2012 Rising Stars include CCM Musical Theatre seniors John Riddle and Katie Johannigman and CCM Drama senior Kristopher Dean. Congratulations all of this year’s award recipients!

CCM Drama Celebrates Graduating Students at 2012 Senior Showcase

CCM’s Department of Drama presents the 2012 Senior Showcase at 2 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in CCM’s Patricia Corbett Theater.

Graduating seniors in CCM’s drama program will present a variety of monologues and scenes to demonstrate the depth and breadth of their acting skills, honed during their undergraduate training at CCM. The performance is a local preview before the students travel to New York and Los Angeles, where they will present the showcase for agents and casting directors.

CCM’s Hope Shangle Garners Acclaim for ‘Our Town’

Congratulations to Hope Shangle, who earned an Acclaim Award nomination for her performance as Mrs. Gibbs in CCM’s recent production of Our Town. Shangle, a junior from Grand Rapids, Mich., was recognized in the category of supporting performance by a non-Equity actress. Among her previous CCM credits, Shangle counts roles in Bury the Dead  (in which she earned a 2009-10 Acclaim Award as part of the show’s principal ensemble), You Can’t Take It With You (in which Shangle offered another Acclaim Award-winning supporting performance as family matriarch Penny Sycamore), Blood Wedding and The Matchmaker.

Beginning this evening, CCM presents Our Town, Thornton Wilder’s timeless portrait of life in mythical Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Our Town follows George Gibbs and Emily Webb as they experience daily life, love and marriage, and death and eternity.

CCM presents Wilder’s wise and witty tale of life and the human experience tonight through April 24 in the Patricia Corbett Theater. Learn more after the jump.
