Renowned pianist and conductor Leon Fleisher will receive an honorary doctorate at UC’s Commencement Ceremony on April 27.

Legendary pianist and conductor Leon Fleisher will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Music at the University of Cincinnati Commencement Ceremony at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 27, in Fifth Third Arena.

Fleisher is widely recognized as one of the world’s truly great artists. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Chair of Piano served as Great Master Instructor for a residency at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music last October.

CCM’s Café MoMus: Contemporary Music Ensemble presents the music of celebrated composer Nico Muhly at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in UC’s Patricia Corbett Theater. Featuring guest artists Tatiana Berman, violin, and Grant Knox, tenor, the performance is presented in conjunction with the Constella Festival of Music and Fine Arts. Admission to the concert is free.

CCM welcomes internationally renowned conductor and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Chair of Piano Leon Fleisher for a residency in conjunction with our Conducting Beethoven Workshop this week.

Recipient of the 2007 Kennedy Center Honors and subject of the 2006 Oscar-nominated short documentary Two Hands: The Leon Fleisher Story, Fleisher is widely recognized as one of the world’s truly great artists.

Fleisher will lead master classes in UC’s Robert J. Werner Recital Hall from 10-11:30 a.m. this Saturday and from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday. Both sessions are open to the general public, but seating is limited.

CCM Musical Theatre Students Showcase Sondheim Classic, ‘A Little Night Music’

Following up on their acclaimed production of Evita last fall, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) musical theatre students continue to showcase the work of musical theatre’s greatest composers with Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning A Little Night Music. The show runs from February 3-5 in the intimate setting of the Cohen Family Studio Theatre in CCM Village. Guest artist Kimberly Daniel de Acha, who joined CCM in 2010 as an adjunct associate professor of voice, will perform in the show directed by Steven Goldstein. Anthony DeAngelis serves as musical director. Admission is free, but reservations are required. Tickets will become available on Monday, January 31 at noon – please contact the CCM Box Office at 513-556-4183 to reserve. Limit two tickets per order.
