CCM Spring 2013 Calendar of Major Events – Updates

Please note the following updates to CCM’s schedule of major events for the spring:

  • The Jan. 23 Faculty Artist Concert featuring Karen Lykes and Kenneth Griffiths has been cancelled.
  • Tickets for CCM’s March 7 – 9 Student Dance Showcase are free, but reservations are required. Tickets become available at noon on Monday, March 4 – please visit the CCM Box Office or call 513-556-4183 to reserve. Limit two tickets per order.
  • Oscar Ghiglia‘s guest artist recital (originally scheduled for Sunday, March 10) has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict and will be rescheduled for CCM’s Fall 2013 semester. Ticket holders can contact CCM’s Box Office at 513-556-4183 for a refund or exchange.

CCM Announces Spring 2013 Calendar of Major Events

CCM is delighted to announce its spring schedule of performances. The largest single source of performing arts events in the state of Ohio, CCM presents more than 100 major public performances from Jan. 12 through May 19, ranging from faculty and guest artist concerts to fully supported opera, drama and musical theatre productions.

CCM’s spring semester performance schedule includes the return of Cincinnati’s premiere fundraiser “A Moveable Feast” on Jan. 18, an evening of motion-picture music featuring acclaimed film composer and distinguished UC alumnus Randy Edelman on Jan. 27, a celebration of Giuseppe Verdi’s sacred masterwork Requiem on Feb. 1 and 2, a monumental “Mahler Marathon” on March 2, the Ariel String Quartet’s inaugural season finale on April 9, a guest artist recital by acclaimed tenor Lawrence Brownlee on April 13 and the eighth installment of CCM’s popular Pianopalooza concert on April 21.

Also this spring, CCM’s Division of Electronic Media presents the 10-part Global Lens Film Series (Jan. 14 – April 15), Cincinnati Children’s Choir celebrates its 20th anniversary (March 9), the Classical Guitar Department celebrates its 40th anniversary (April 6) and CCM’s year-long Kurt Weill Festival continues with a variety of unique concerts and productions (Feb. 28 – March 12).

All events listed below take place in CCM Village on the campus of the University of Cincinnati unless otherwise indicated. Admission is free to many CCM performances, although some events do require purchased tickets or reservations. Please see individual event information for details and ordering information.

CCM Announces Fall 2012 Calendar of Major Events

CCM is delighted to announce its fall schedule of performances. The largest single source of performing arts events in the state of Ohio, CCM presents more than 100 public performances this fall, ranging from faculty and guest artist concerts to fully supported opera, drama and musical theatre productions.

This fall’s schedule includes a Beethoven Festival (Sept. 14 – Oct. 12), a Kurt Weill Festival (Oct. 19 – March 10) and a Cage Centennial Celebration (Nov. 5 – Nov. 29). CCM also collaborates with Cincinnati Opera on public workshop performances of two new American operas (Oct. 27 – 28 and Dec. 4 – 5) and presents a pair of concerts in conjunction with the Constella Festival of Music and Fine Arts (Oct. 10 and Oct. 28).

CCM is delighted to announce its fall schedule of major performances. Beginning Wednesday, September 28 CCM will present over 50 events, ranging from faculty and guest artist concerts to fully supported opera and musical theatre productions.

CCM Voice Students Receive Competition Honors

Six CCM voice students were named winners of CCM’s 2011 Opera Scholarship Competition, which was held Saturday, April 2 in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium. The annual competition welcomes current and incoming CCM voice students to compete for scholarships and cash prizes, and a panel of judges composed of opera industry professionals selects each year’s class of prizewinners. CCM’s Opera Scholarship Competition Celebrates Excellence in Vocal Performance

CCM will provide local audiences with a first glimpse of tomorrow’s opera stars during the 2011 Opera Scholarship Competition running from 10 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 in Corbett Auditorium.

25 top young artists will compete for nearly $135,000 in tuition grants and $75,000 in other named awards, including the Corbett Award, Italo Tajo Memorial Award, Andrew White Memorial Award, Seybold-Russell Award, Artman/Straub Award and John Alexander Memorial Award.

Admission is free and open to the general public and audience members will have a chance to weigh in on this year’s competition with the introduction of a new “Audience Favorite” award.

Graham Johnson Visits CCM for Residency in January

Next month, CCM’s Department of Collaborative Piano will host an exceptional residency by renowned international author, lecturer, collaborative pianist and recording artist Graham Johnson. CCM will present Johnson in public master classes on Jan. 7 and 8, 2011. Johnson will be joined by CCM students, presenting vocal works of both Franz Schubert and Gabriel Fauré. He will also hold a public lecture on that Friday evening devoted to Schubert’s life and vocal works.
