CCM’s orchestra season begins at 8 p.m. this evening (Sept. 14) with the Philharmonia’s Beethoven Festival opening concert!
“You will be invigorated by the talent of these young musicians,” Janelle Gelfand writes in the Cincinnati Enquirer‘s Fall Arts Preview. For only $12 per person ($6 for non-UC students), you can “Experience the inspiring music of Beethoven in the acoustically fine Corbett Auditorium at the University of Cincinnati.” You can view more of the Enquirer‘s Fall Arts Preview here.
Led by music director and conductor Mark Gibson, tonight’s concert features a selection of three of Beethoven’s orchestral works from his “middle period,” including the Overture to Fidelio and the lush Symphony No. 7 in A Major.
CCM Piano Competition winner Julan Wang, a doctoral student in the studio of Awadagin Pratt, will perform Beethoven’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor).
Tickets are available online here or by calling the CCM Box Office at 513-556-4183.
